MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Joseph Victor "JV" Ejercito on Monday said he is still inclined to support Sen. Grace Poe despite the decision of his mother, San Juan City Mayor Guia Gomez, to back Liberal Party standard-bearer Manuel "Mar" Roxas II in the presidential race.
Ejercito told members of the press that he is supporting Poe as they have fought issues together such as the Freedom of Information Bill, the Mamasapano incident and the Metro Rail Transit woes.
"Nothing is final yet but as of this time, I’m still inclined to support Senator Poe," Ejercito said.
The senator added that their family members "agreed to disagree" in supporting presidential candidates in the May 9 elections.
Meanwhile, Ejercito's father, Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada, is eyeing to support either Poe or Vice President Jejomar Binay.
Poe is the goddaughter of Estrada while Binay is his former close ally in the opposition.
"Hopefully, all the right legal issues would be settled very soon because, as of this time, the big question mark is the legal question," Ejercito said.
Ejercito was referring to the disqualification cases against Poe due to citizenship and residency issues.
The Supreme Court on Tuesday will begin the oral arguments on the disqualification case against Poe.
