MANILA, Philippines – Another taxi driver on a social media complaint was summoned by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) on Monday for allegedly swearing at and overcharging a passenger.

The LTFRB issued a Show Cause Order against driver Rolando Camara and his operator, Premium Taxi Premium Trans Corp. after a Facebook user named Hannah Quiwa on January 8 posted a complaint on her personal account, narrating her experience while riding Camara’s taxi with Plate No. AAO 7317.

Quiwa said on Dec. 28, 2015, she and her younger sister and niece aged 10 and 15 rode Camara’s cab from Cambridge Condominium to Robinson Galleria. She alleged that Camara was complaining and swearing throughout the whole time he was driving and charged them additional P50 on top of the meter fare.

The passenger said Camara also shouted and swore at her dad when asked about the extra charge causing the mall security guards to intervene.

“My dad was telling him that it wasn't about the money it's about how he was a reckless driver and rude to young passengers,” Quiwa stated on her Facebook complaint.

The Facebook complaint went viral and reached the officials of LTFRB who then summoned Camara and his operator for the following violations: contracting passenger, overcharging of fare, employing rude or arrogant driver and employing reckless driver.

LTFRB also asked the respondents to defend themselves in a hearing scheduled 9 a.m. of January 20 at the LTFRB office in Quezon City.

The board said if the respondents fail to appear before the office, they will be heard and decided based on the records of the LTFRB.

“Failure on the part of the respondent operator’s representative and the driver to answer in writing this show cause order within the aforesaid period from receipt and to appear at the hearing of this case on the date aforementioned shall be considered as waiver on their part to be heard and case shall be decided on the basis of the records of this board,” the Show Cause Order added.

On January 5, another taxi driver posted in a viral video on Facebook, identified as Roger Catipay, and his operator, Ariel Gamboa, were also summoned by the LTFRB for threatening his passenger.
