PAGASA: Fair weather to continue until Friday

MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Sunday said fair weather will continue in the country.

PAGASA said fair weather is foreseen for Sunday as two weather systems - northeast monsoon and easterlies - affect the country. Northeast monsoon affects the extreme northern Luzon while easterlies affect the eastern section of the country.

While most of the country will experience generally good weather, the eastern section of the country is expected to have cloudy skies with light to to moderate rains and isolated thunderstorms particularly over Eastern Visayas, Caraga and Davao Region. On the other hand, Batanes, Calayan and Babuyan group of islands will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will also have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.

The weather bureau said moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast to east will prevail over northern Luzon and its coastal waters will be moderate to rough while winds will be light to moderate coming from the east to northeast with slight to moderate seas elsewhere.

PAGASA said there are no tropical cyclones expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility for the coming week.

The archipelago, mostly over Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, CARAGA and Davao Region will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms on Monday. This is due to the easterlies affecting the eastern section of the country.

On the other hand, the surge of northeast monsoon will affect Luzon and might bring cloudy skies with light rains over Cagayan Valley, Ilocos region and Cordillera for Tuesday to Friday. Meanwhile, Visayas and Mindanao will have generally fair weather with chances of isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.

For the rest of the week, Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated light rains.
