LIST: Black Nazarene processional route for January 7, 9

MANILA, Philippines – The City of Manila and the Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene or “Quiapo Church” on Tuesday released the processional routes for the feast of Black Nazarene.

City of Manila Administrator Ericson Alcovendaz said the same processional route used for the first time last year will be used in this year’s Black Nazarene procession or “traslacion.”

“Bigyan diin ko lang ho 'yung ruta na gagamitin natin ngayon, this is the same route that we will be taking as that of last year,” Alcovendaz said.

Quiapo Church released two routes. The first route for Thursday, January 7, was intended for the procession of Black Nazarene replicas while the second was for the procession sendoff during the feast day itself, Saturday, January 9. Msgr. Hernando Ding Coronel and Parochial Vicars will bless the replicas.

For January 9, the Black Nazarene will be brought to the Quirino Grandstand  early morning where the route of the procession will start at around 7 a.m.. It will end at Quiapo Church.

As millions of Black Nazarene devotees are expected to participate the traditional procession, classes were already suspended and the local government unit said they will also remove sidewalk vendors.

Below are the routes for Thursday and Saturday.

• Right to Bilibid Viejo thru Puyat  Street

• Left to  Guzman Street (Mendoza Street)

• Right to Globo de Oro Street

• Right to Palanca Street

• Right to Vilalobos Street thru Plaza Miranda

January 9 (Saturday) Route

Start: 7:00 a.m.

• Left to Katigbak Drive thru Padre Burgos Street

• Left to Taft Avenue thru Jones Bridge

• Right to Dasmariñas Street

• Right to Plaza Sta. Cruz Street

• Left to Carlos Palanca Street thru under Quezon Bridge
