MANILA, Philippines - The three Supreme Court (SC) justices who were members of the Senate Electoral Tribunal (SET), have formally inhibited from the high court's review of the ruling on the disqualification case against Sen. Grace Poe.

SC Associate Justices Antonio Carpio, Teresita Leonardo-De Castro and Arturo Brion decided not to take part in the review, citing their prior participation in the SET.

According to a report, petitioner Rizalito David received the copy of the notice.

David earlier asked the high court to reverse the decision of the SET that Poe is a natural-born Filipino.

Poe has earlier expressed her hope that the three SC justices would inhibit from her case once elevated to the high court.

Meanwhile, the Commission on Elections en banc has voted to uphold the rulings of its two divisions to disqualify the senator from the presidential race in 2016.

The SC, however, has issued a temporary restraining order against the Comelec ruling on Poe's case.

Poe's camp has asked the SC to consolidate the SET and Comelec cases to expedite the process.
