MANILA, Philippines –Former Sen. Francisco “ Kiko” Tatad on Monday requested the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to exclude the name of presidential aspirant Sen. Grace Poe on the official ballot in the 2016 polls.

Tatad, through his lawyer Manuelito Luna, filed a motion for execution of judgment of the Comelec First Division, seeking to drop Poe’s name from the official ballots.

“Motion for Commission to order its first division to enforce the decision on resolution cancelling the certificate of candidacy for president of Mary Grace Natividad Sonora Poe Lallamanzares,” the motion stated.

On December 15, Tatad also expressed that he wants Poe removed from the list of certified candidates in a letter addressed to Comelec Law Department’s Acting Director  Maria Norina Tangaro-Casingal.

The Comelec en banc on December 23 canceled Poe’s certificate of candidacy for not meeting the mandated 10-year residency requirement for presidential candidates and for being ruled as not natural-born Filipino.

The Comelec said Poe’s name will remain on the ballot while the Supreme Court decides on the disqualification case.

Poe’s camp earlier asked the SC to reverse the Comelec’s ruling.
