MANILA, Philippines - Tropical Depression Onyok slightly accelerated and continues to pose threat to Caraga region, according to PAGASA.
At 10:00 p.m. today, the center of Tropical Depression Onyok was estimated at 415 km east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur packing maximum winds of 55 kph near the center. Onyok is forecast to move west at 17 kph.
The estimated rainfall amount is from moderate to heavy within the 100 km diameter of the tropical depression.
Public storm warning signal number 1 (30-60 kph expected in 36 hrs) is hoisted over Surigao del Sur including Siargao Island, Surigao del Norte, Dinagat Province, Misamis Oriental, Camiguin, Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Davao Oriental, Davao del Norte, Compostela Valley, Bukidnon, Lanao del Norte, Lanao del Sur, Misamis Occidental, Davao del Sur and North Cotabato.
Residents in low lying and mountainous areas of the provinces with public storm warning signals are alerted against possible flashfloods and landslides.
