Ayala brothers ride MRT-3

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Businessman Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala, chairman and chief operating officer of Ayala Corp., was spotted riding the Metro Rail Transit (MRT-3) yesterday morning.

A report on abs-cbnnews.com said Jaime Augusto took the train as part of his inspection with his brother Fernando, chairman of Ayala Corp., of the interconnection of the mass rail system.

The photo, which showed Jaime Augusto and a companion among the standing passengers, went viral on social media. Another photo showed him purchasing his contactless beep card from a machine while Fernando looked on.

AF Payments Inc., a consortium of Ayala Corp. and Metro Pacific Investments Corp., was awarded the contract to implement the beep card system at the MRT-3 and Light Rail Transit Lines (LRT) 1 and 2.

The Ayala group is part of the consortium Light Rail Manila Corp. which has taken over the operations and maintenance of the LRT-1.

The Zobel de Ayala brothers also inspected the rehabilitation of LRT-1.
