MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) on Monday afternoon reported that the number of passengers stranded in various ports nationwide rose due to bad weather triggered by Typhoon “Nona” (international name Melor).
PCG said the number of stranded passengers jumped from 3,997 on 4 p.m. Sunday to 6,795 as of 12 noon on Monday.
Aside from passengers, there were also vehicles stranded including 75 vessels, 17 motor bancas and 466 rolling cargoes.
PCG advised its units to ensure strict implementation of Headquarters Philippine Coast Guard Memorandum Circular 02-13 otherwise known as the Guidelines on Movement of Vessels during Heavy Weather.
