MANILA, Philippines - Defeated senatorial bet Rizalito David on Tuesday asked the Supreme Court to reverse of the ruling of the Senate Electoral Tribunal (SET) that Sen. Grace Poe is a natural-born Filipino.

David filed a petition before the high court, requesting for a writ of certiorari which reverses the recent resolution of the SET.

The petitioner also requested for a temporary restraining order or writ of preliminary injunction which restrains the enforcement of the tribunal's decision.

The SET recently junked the motion for reconsideration filed by David regarding the disqualification against Poe.

The tribunal affirmed its decision to declare Poe as a natural-born Filipino.

The Commission of Elections (Comelec) Second Division disqualified Poe from the presidential race in the 2016 elections.

However, Poe has filed an appeal before the Comelec en banc, seeking to reverse the cancelation of her certificate of candidacy for president.
