‘Send Yuletide mail, parcels early’
MANILA, Philippines - Letters or parcels for the Yuletide season should be sent as early as possible if the senders want these received by their loved ones and friends before Christmas or New Year’s day, the Philippine Postal Corp. said in a statement.
Postmaster General Ma. Josefina de la Cruz said they have issued a Christmas mail schedule for their domestic and international express, registered and ordinary mails and parcels to serve as guide to senders.
Holiday-related Domestic Express Mails should be sent not later than Dec. 16. International Express Mails should be sent before Dec. 14.
Domestic registered mail should be posted earlier than Dec. 10.
Meanwhile, domestic ordinary mail should be sent on or before Dec. 11 while international ordinary mail should be sent not later than Dec. 7.
The deadline for domestic parcels is on Dec. 10.
De la Cruz also urged those in the provinces to mail their items earlier than the listed schedule.
Post offices all over the country are open from Mondays to Fridays, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., except holidays.
She added that the volume of letters and parcels sent through post offices is expected to increase during the Christmas season.
