MANILA, Philippines - Sen. Grace Poe is set to attend a presidential forum on Wednesday despite being disqualified from the presidential race.

Poe will meet with leaders of the business community at the Solaire Resort Ballroom in Pasay City.

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) Second Division on Tuesday disqualified Poe for not meeting the residency requirement for presidential candidates.

"We would have wanted to declare the respondent eligible to seek the highest position in the land within the gift of our people. After all, she is not only popular, she is, potentially a good leader. However, it is our bounden duty to resolve this case by applying the Constitution, law, jurisprudence and none other," the Comelec decision read.

The senator, however, will appeal before the full session of the Comelec.

Poe admitted that she was disappointed in the decision but vowed to continue the fight for the rights of foundlings and the right of the people to choose their leaders.

"I have faith in the process, and we are confident that the Comelec en banc will side with the interest of the people," Poe said in a statement.
