Obama plays basketball after APEC summit
MANILA, Philippines - After attending the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders’ Meeting, US President Barack Obama yesterday took a break to play hoops with some friends.
According to Marciano Paynor Jr., the director-general of the APEC 2015 National Organizing Council (NOC), the US president had requested for time to play basketball.
Paynor, however, said he did not have any information where Obama played basketball before leaving Manila yesterday afternoon.
Obama, a noted basketball fan, flew to Kuala Lumpur to attend the US-ASEAN and East Asia summit in Malaysia.
“He is also a golfer but due to tight schedules, he was unable to play in one of the golf courses in Metro Manila,” Paynor told dzRH.
Obama’s absence at the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC)’s dialogue with leaders on Wednesday raised curiosity about his whereabouts.
Paynor said NOC was informed beforehand that Obama would not attend the ABAC dialogue.
