‘Latest Pulse Asia survey on presidential, VP bets flawed’

Jess Diaz - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Buhay party-list Rep. Lito Atienza yesterday criticized the latest Pulse Asia survey on presidential and vice presidential candidates, saying it was flawed.

“The so-called latest Pulse Asia survey was very obviously done carelessly and haphazardly. How is it that in the survey of vice presidential bets, Sen. Gregorio Honasan was not even mentioned at all?” he asked.

“If they had done their homework, then very clearly, Senator Honasan would have gotten a lot of people’s approval, especially on the issue of peace and order problems affecting our country,” Atienza said.

“The purpose of a real survey is to get the people’s sentiment on who among the candidates would best address these problems. For Sen. Honasan to have been excluded from the survey is glaring proof of how rigged and manipulated it is,” he said.

“Among vice presidential aspirants, Senator Honasan would be in the best position to address the serious problems besetting the country now – the continued proliferation of drugs and the rise in drug-related crimes, the breakdown of law and order, and the threat of international and local terrorism,” he said.

“Our government has virtually ignored the rampant criminality plaguing our society, and this has allowed criminals to go scot-free. Senator Honasan would be an effective anti-crime czar under a Binay presidency,” he added.

Honasan is the running mate of Vice President Jejomar Binay of the opposition United Nationalist Alliance.
