Brunei sultan arrives in Manila for APEC

MANILA, Philippines – Brunei Darussalam’s Sultan, Hassanal Bolkiah, is among the leaders who arrived in Manila on Tuesday for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit.

The sultan arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 2 at around 7:15 p.m.

He was welcomed by government officials led by Transportation and Communications Secretary Secretary Joseph Emilio Abaya during his arrival.

Bolkiah, one of the world’s longest reigning and few remaining absolute monarchs. was hailed as one of the wealthiest royals of Forbes. His net worth amounts to $20 billion as of 2008.

The sultan is expected to leave the country on Thursday.
