Supreme Court junks with finality Cudia's third plea

MANILA, Philippines — The Supreme Court on Monday denied with finality the third motion for reconsideration of dismissed Philippine Military Academy (PMA) cadet Aldrin Jeff Cudia.

In a press conference, Supreme Court spokesperson Theodore Te said the magistrates "closed and terminated" the case after ruling against the latest motion.

The court was addressing a petition filed on September 10 by the Public Attorney's Office seeking a reconsideration of the tribunal's final ruling that sided with the military academy's move to dismiss the cadet over allegations of lying.

The camp of Cudia also asked the court to order the PMA to release Cudia's academic documents, including his diploma, general weighted average, certificate of good moral character and honorable dismissal and transcript of records.

The petitioner noted that the documents will allow Cudia to enroll at the University of the Philippines College of Law.

Cudia asked the court's understanding as his family can no longer support his studies if he would have to repeat his undergraduate studies.

In his petition, Cudia cited that his father was left "half-paralyzed" after suffering from stroke, while his mother is unemployed.
