PNP: No threat of terror attacks in APEC meet

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Monday assured that there is no threat of terror attacks for the upcoming Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders' Meeting in Manila.

Task Force APEC 2015 spokesperson Chief Superintendent Wilben Mayor said that the police is currently verifying reports of such threats following the terror attacks in Paris, France.

"As of now we can say definitely that there is no such threat," Mayor said in a press briefing.

Mayor added that no security adjustment for the APEC summit has been made following the attacks in Paris, France as none of the economic leaders visiting the Philippines has requested for additional security.

The Department of Foreign Affairs earlier said that the country has not yet received any notice of cancelation from the APEC leaders and representatives expected to participate in the high-level event.

President Benigno Aquino III placed authorities on heightened alert following the terror attacks in Paris which left more than 120 dead.
