DLSU prof files petition to junk Poe's COC

Patricia Lourdes Viray - Philstar.com
MANILA, Philippines - A professor from De La Salle University (DLSU) on Tuesday filed another petition before the Commission on Elections to junk Sen. Grace Poe's certificate of candidacy (COC) for president.

DLSU political science Prof. Antonio Contreras filed the petition, citing that Poe failed to meet the 10-year requirement for president.

Contreras argued that Poe would be two months short of the residency requirement if she reacquired her citizenship in July 2016.

In his Facebook account, Contreras also hinted that Poe's residency is not the only information not correctly represented in her COC.

The professor said his camp attempted to serve a copy of his petition to the address that Poe indicated in her COC for election purposes but the staff in the law office which the senator indicated refused to receive the copy.

Former Sen. Francisco "Kit" Tatad on Monday filed a disqualification case against Poe, seeking to invalidate her candidacy for president.

Poe's camp said Tatad is entitled to his own opinion and that they will respect the new case filed against the senator.
