Binay-Honasan tandem first to file candidacy
MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Jejomar "Jojo" Binay and Sen. Gregorio "Gringo" Honasan on Monday filed their certificates of candidacy (COC) to enter the presidential and vice presidential race.
Binay and Honasan of the United Nationalist Alliance, the main opposition party, were the first presidential and vice presidential candidates to submit their COC at the Commission on Elections main office in Intramuros.
The "Bin-Go" tandem intended to be the first candidates to file their certificates to represent the symbol of their party, UNA, which also means "first."
In July, UNA launched their political party where Binay presented his platforms if elected president.
Honasan, meanwhile, said last week he was open to running for the second top post under UNA's banner, but did not officially declare his intent to run.
Also expected to vie for vice president are Sens. Alan Peter Cayetano, Francis "Chiz" Escudero, Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. and Antonio "Sonny" Trillanes IV and Camarines Sur Rep. Maria Leonor "Leni" Robredo. — Video by Efigenio Toledo IV
