Sabah police yet to verify MH370 wreckage claim
MANILA, Philippines - Sabah police have yet to verify a claim that a wreckage of Malaysian Airline MH370 was found in Tawi-Tawi, according to a Malaysian online news yesterday.
The MalayOnline said Sabah state police commissioner Datuk Jalaluddin Abdul Rah- man would still interview Jamil Omar who told authorities about the discovery.
“Sabah police cannot verify at the moment whether the information is authentic,” Jalaluddin said.
Over the weekend, Omar, an audiovisual technician, reported to Sandakan police that a relative from Sugbay Island stumbled on the plane wreckage in early September.
He said his relative and a few others were hunting for birds when they spotted the wreck- age on the island. His relative, Omar said, man- aged to get near the wreckage and found human bones and skeletal remains in the pilot’s chair.
Before leaving the area, Omar said, the hunt- ers took the Malaysian flag found in the wreck- age. He told police that the wreckage could be that of an airplane that disappeared last year.
