AFP assures no threats in APEC Manila leg
MANILA, Philippines – The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) on Wednesday assured the public that there are no security threats foreseen in the upcoming Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders’ Meeting in Metro Manila.
"The coast is secured," AFP spokesperson Col. Restituto Padilla said in a press briefing.
Padilla said that the AFP will deploy members including the Joint Task Force-National Capital Region, Tanay-based second Infantry Division and the Tarlac-based Northern Luzon Command, and other units in AFP headquarters in Camp Aguinaldo to help in securing the delegates and join the Philippine National Police (PNP) in maintaining peace and order during the APEC meeting.
PNP is the lead agency tasked to ensure security during the APEC meeting scheduled on November 2015 in Metro Manila.
The Philippines is the host of this year’s APEC Economic Leaders Meeting, an annual regional forum attended by 21 world leaders.
