DAVAO CITY, Philippines – Mayor Rodrigo Duterte has admitted he is under “tremendous pressure” to run for president in the May 2016 elections as the filing of the certificates of candidacy nears.
In his weekly television program yesterday, Duterte also admitted that he received so many calls from supporters and prospective financiers, following his earlier declaration that would not join the presidential race.
Duterte hinted that one of his prospective financiers is arriving in Davao City today to discuss with him his plans in the coming national polls.
Politicians from all over Mindanao are also banding together and waiting for Duterte to declare his intention to seek the presidency.
But the mayor said he has yet to make up his mind regarding his political plans.
“I am about to cross the Rubicon,” Duterte said.
