483 PDEA personnel undergo random drug test
MANILA, Philippines - Some 483 personnel of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) were subjected to a surprise drug test at the PDEA national headquarters in Quezon City.
PDEA Director General Arturo Cacdac Jr. said urine samples were taken from 465 PDEA personnel composed of key officials, drug enforcement officers and administrative and technical personnel. Eight security guards and 10 general service personnel also underwent drug tests after a weekend break.
All the PDEA personnel yielded negative results for the presence of illegal drugs, Cacdac said.
The drug tests were administered by the PDEA Laboratory Service right after the regular PDEA Monday flag-raising ceremony last September 21.
“This is just part of the standard procedure. We want to show that we have the moral ascendancy to lead as prime implementers of the anti-drug law and that we are drug-free,” Cacdac said.
