Cayetano to run for VP

MANILA, Philippines - Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano on Tuesday announced that he will seek the vice presidency in the 2016 elections.

The senator did not name his running mate or if he will run as an independent candidate.

Cayetano said that the Nacionalista Party (NP) will meet in a few days to discuss the 2016 elections.

Two other senators who are also members of the NP are also reported to seek the vice presidency.

Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV has already announced his vice presidential bid while Sen. Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. is yet to announce his palns for the 2016 polls.

Cayetano and Camarines Sur Rep. Leni Robredo are being considered as the running mate of Liberal Party (LP) standard bearer Mar Roxas II.

The LP is scheduled to announce its vice presidential candidate on Wednesday.
