MANILA, Philippines - The ruling Liberal Party (LP) is set to announce on Wednesday its vice presidential candidate for the 2016 national elections.

The presidential and vice presidential candidate of the party will be presented after the business meeting of the LP National Executive Council.

LP vice chair and Senate President Franklin Drilon said that President Benigno Aquino III will be present at the event as chair of the party.

The senator admitted that he is not yet sure whether the LP will also announce its complete senatorial line-up by Wednesday.

Camarines Sur Rep. Leni Robredo and Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano are among the possible running mates of LP standard bearer Manuel "Mar" Roxas II for the 2016 elections.

"Ilang tulog na lang, wait for it. Dalawang tulog na lang. We will not have that unless we have a vice presidential candidate," Drilon said in an ambush interview.

Roxas has earlier formally invited Robredo to be his running mate for the 2016 polls.

The LP standard bearer also met with Cayetano last week but refused to go into the details of the said meeting.
