MANILA, Philippines - Puerto Princesa City jail personnel has assured that there will no special treatment to former Palawan Gov. Joel Reyes and his brother, ex-Coron Mayor Mario Reyes Jr., while detained in the facility.

In a radio interview, Jail Officer 1 Marlito Anza said the Reyes brothers will be treated as any other ordinary inmate in the detention facility.

Visitors of the two high profile inmates will also undergo the screening and processing before being allowed inside the facility, Anza said.

Meanwhile, the former Coron local chief executive has requested that he be given a medical check up because he has a recurring fever since he and his brother were still in Thailand.

The Reyes brothers were flown to Manila to Palawan, Puerto Princesa Friday afternoon after relatives of slain environmentalist Gerry Ortega asked authorities for their transfer of detention.

The  two former local officials of Palawan have been tagged as the brains behind the killing of Ortega in 2011.
