Aquino names new NHA head

MANILA, Philippines — President Benigno Aquino III has appointed a new chief of the National Housing Authority (NHA).

Aquino approved on September 11 the nomination of lawyer Sinforoso Pagunsan as NHA general manager and chief executive officer.

Replacing the posts vacated by Chito Cruz, Pagunsan will serve for an unexpired term until June 30, 2016.

Aquino appointed Cruz as the new chair of the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council after Vice President Jejomar Binay resigned from the post in June.

Apart from Pagunsan's appointment, the president also approved the nomination of other officials.

Aquino appointed Maria Cristina Mariano as chairman of the People's Television Network for an unexpired term until June 30, 2016.

Aquino also approved the nomination of Lorenzo Formoso as president and chief operations officer of the Duty Free Philippines Corporation for an unexpired term until June 30, 2016. — Louis Bacani
