PNoy: I have yet to see Binay's accomplishments as housing czar
MANILA, Philippines - For President Benigno Aquino III, Vice President Jejomar Binay did nothing for the housing sector during his time in the Cabinet.
"Under my watch, I have yet to see anything that he did as head of the housing sector," Aquino said in an interview with ANC aired on Tuesday night.
"There are no allegations about him doing anything while serving as a housing czar in my Cabinet," the president added.
When pressed if he thinks Binay did nothing as housing czar, Aquino said "Knock on wood."
Binay, a long-time friend of Aquino, has been criticizing the administration following his resignation from the Cabinet in June.
He said the administration was inept and uncaring and had failed to address poverty, unemployment and hunger.
As a Cabinet member, Binay was the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council chair and presidential adviser on overseas Filipino workers' affairs.
Binay left Aquino's official family amid the continuing corruption allegations against him, which he said were part of the demolition job aimed at bringing down his presidential bid.
Aquino denied that he went to the Batangas estate being linked to Binay, though he recognized the evidence presented against the vice president in the year-long Senate Blue Ribbon sub-committee investigation.
"Through the years there have always been rumors but this is the first time that we've seen—parang evidence, it seems... to support those allegations," he said.
