LIVE: Oral arguments on case against Grace Poe

MANILA, Philippines — The Senate Electoral Tribunal (SET) on Monday began oral arguments on the disqualification case against Sen. Grace Poe.

The hearing, held at the Supreme Court En Banc Session Hall was originally scheduled 2 p.m., but SET moved it earlier at 10 a.m. No reasons were cited for the change in schedule.

Poe is not expected to be present at the proceedings, but her counsel, Alex Poblador, is set to answer questions on her citizenship.

The SET handling the disqualification case against Poe is composed of Supreme Court Associate Justices Teresita Leonardo-De Castro, Arturo Brion and Antonio Carpio, and Sens. Nancy Binay, Pia Cayetano, Loren Legarda and Vicente “Tito” Sotto.

Binay, daughter of Vice President Jejomar Binay who is running against Poe for president next year, earlier said she is not inhibiting from the case but vowed to remain fair during the course of the probe.
