MANILA, Philippines - Sen. Grace Poe remains the top presidential bet for the 2016 national elections while Interior Secretary Manuel "Mar" Roxas overtook Vice President Jejomar Binay for second place, according to the latest Social Weather Stations survey released late Sunday.

Poe's rating surged to 47 percent which is five points higher than her second quarter survey result.

Roxas of the ruling Liberal Party takes the second place with 39 percent, a significant increase from his 21 percent in the previous survey.

Meanwhile, Binay of the United Nationalist Alliance slid to third place with 35 percent, seeing a one point increase from his 34 percent rating last June.

Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte ranked fourth with 16 percent, four points down from his 20 percent rating in the second quarter survey.

Poe is also the top choice for vice president with 25 percent, followed by Sen. Francis "Chiz" Escudero with 18 percent.

Sen. Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos and Roxas both scored 6 percent while Binay got 5 percent in the vice presidential preference polls.

The survey was conducted from September 2 to 5 among 1,200 respondents nationwide.

Poe announced her candidacy last September 15, followed by her declaration that she and Escudero will run as a team in the 2016 elections.
