Prevailing ITCZ to bring rains over Visayas, Mindanao
MANILA, Philippines – The Philippines Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Sunday said that Intertropical Convergenze Zone (ITCZ) will continue to bring cloudy skies with rains over Visayas and Mindanao.
According to PAGASA weather forecaster Shelley Ignacio, the presence of ITCZ will result to cloudy skies with moderate rains and thunderstorms over Central and Western Visayas.
Ignacio added that the ITCZ will prevail within the next two days or until Tuesday, affecting the rest of the country.
The weather forecaster said that Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will have fair weather with partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening.
The weather bureau explained that the ITCZ affecting Visayas and Mindanao is the thick clouds originating from the breeding ground for low-pressure areas (LPAs) or potential cyclones from the south of Asia.
Ignacio then assured that the weather bureau is monitoring weather disturbance over the Pacific Ocean.
As of 2 a.m. the LPA outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) was traced some 2,700 km east of Luzon.
The LPA sighted has a slim chance of intensifying into a tropical cyclone, PAGASA said.
Aside from ITCZ, PAGASA said light to moderate winds blowing from the Northeast to Northwest will dominate Luzon and Visayas. The coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be slight to moderate.
Fisherfolks are safe to venture into seas as there are no gale warnings raised.
