MANILA, Philippines - Secretary Gregory Domingo feels burned out and will be leaving the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) by next month, informed sources told The STAR yesterday.
Domingo served as the managing director and treasurer of Chase Manhattan Bank in Manila. He was the executive director of SM Investments Corp. when he was recruited to be the first DTI chief of President Aquino in July 2010.
As DTI chief, Domingo has been one of the Cabinet members whose performance has been lauded by the business community.
He had revamped the Motor Vehicle Development Program and raised the nation’s profile as a center for IT-enabled services.
The sources did not know who might replace Domingo, whose resignation will reportedly take effect in the first week of October.
Palace officials could not be reached for comment. Domingo did not return calls last night.
