MANILA, Philippines - Malacanang reminded the public that stricter traffic rules will be implemented on Monday upon official takeover ofthe Philippine National Police-Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) of Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (EDSA).
Coloma said that although the PNP-HPG will take the lead role in managing the traffic in EDSA, the Metro Manila Development Authority, Land Transportation Office and Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board will still assist in traffic management.
Aside from the PNP-HPG deployment slated on Monday, September 7, provincial buses going to Southern Luzon will be rerouted.
The rerouting will include buses in Cubao and Kamuning, Quezon City bound for Bicol and Quezon Province, as well as other bus companies using the South Luzon Expressway.
With the new rerouting schemes, all concerned buses shall take the EDSA route from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. toward P. Tuazon Ave. and turning to C-5 until they reach the South Expressway, proceeding to their destination.
Coloma said the rerouting provision seeks to decongest EDSA as provincial buses contribute to the traffic woes experienced by motorists.
Coloma also urge for the cooperation of motorists in following traffic rules and for them to maintain discipline.
