MANILA, Philippines - Outgoing Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas is expected to visit Benguet and Ilocos Sur on Wednesday to inspect the damage that Typhoon Ineng (Goni) in Northern Luzon.
Roxas will first head to La Trinidad, Benguet, for a Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council meeting with local officials before going further north to Santa, Ilocos Sur, which bore the brunt of 'Ineng.'
In Santa, Ilocos Sur, Roxas will then inspect the Santa Bridge, which was destroyed during the typhoon. He will also check the status of the Santa sea wall, as well as the national highway.
According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council, 'Ineng' affected a total of 23,965 families during its onslaught, leaving 21 people dead and 15 missing.
Roxas and some Cabinet members have been going around the country, reportedly to touch-base with the people. He also led government officials before Super-typhoon Yolanda battered Eastern Visayas in 2013.
Roxas is the standard bearer of the Liberal Party in the 2016 polls.
