MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano on Tuesday admitted that he presented himself to the Nationalist People's Coalition (NPC) and the Liberal Party (LP) as a possible presidential candidate for the 2016 national elections.
"Totoong pine-presenta ko ang sarili ko sa NPC, sa LP as president pero meron daw silang sarili nila," Cayetano said in an interview with ANC's Headstart.
Interior and Local Government Secretary Manuel "Mar" Roxas II will be the presidential candidate of the LP while members of the NPC have expressed their support for Sen. Grace Poe.

The senator added that he is also open to run as vice president. He confirmed that he will be seeking for a higher position in the 2016 polls but remains undecided if he will run for president or vice president.
Cayetano, the secretary-general of the Nacionalista Party (NP), stressed that he is open to form an alliance with any political party except for Vice President Jejomar Binay's United Nationalist Alliance due to the corruption allegations against the vice president.
The senator said that he will announce what position to run for within two to three weeks as soon as he has decided.
Meanwhile, the NP is still in the process of deciding on its candidates for the 2016 national elections.
Two senators from the NP—Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV and Sen. Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.—are also eyeing to run for a higher position in next year's elections.
