Bayan: Mar-Noy tandem a national nightmare

MANILA, Philippines — A tandem of President Benigno Aquino III and his anointed Liberal Party standard bearer in 2016 elections, outgoing Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas is a "national nightmare," according to militant group Bayan.

Bayan Secretary Seneral Renato Reyes Jr. said that the proposal of LP party member and Cavite Rep. Elpidio Barzaga Jr. for President Aquino to be the running mate of Roxas is not a dream ticket.

"It is a sign of utter hopelessness on the part of the ruling coalition. Rep. Barzaga wants to inflict anew on us the discredited 'Daang Matuwid'. He is either delusional or is desperately trying to score brownie points with the outgoing president," Reyes said.

He said a Mar-Noy tandem would not be acceptable to the electorate who wants real change instead of a "recycled yellow tandem."

"In life, certain things are not meant to be recycled and allowed to persist beyond its expiry," Reyes said.

Barzaga had earlier suggested that Aquino runs in tandem with Roxas in case Sen. Grace Poe finally rejects LP's offer.
