Grace tells Mar: You have other choices

MANILA, Philippines - Sen. Grace Poe on Monday confirmed that Interior and Local Government Secretary Manuel "Mar" Roxas II personally asked her to be his running mate during their meeting over the weekend.

According to a report from the STAR, Poe told Roxas that he does not have to wait for her to make her decision for the 2016 national elections.

"Sabi ko sa kanya marami naman silang pagpipilian," Poe said.

Poe has set a deadline for herself to decide on whether to run or not but refused to tell when that is.

The senator quoted Lola Ni Dora, the character of Wally Bayola in GMA 7's Eat Bulaga, on her decision for the 2016 polls, "Sa tamang panahon."

Roxas, the presumptive presidential candidate of the Liberal Party, earlier asked Poe on national television to run as his vice president for next year's elections.

Poe is facing allegations of distorting facts in her certificate of candidacy when she ran as senator in 2013.

Defeated 2013 senatorial candidate Rizalito David on Monday filed a case against Poe before the Commission on Elections for material representation. David claims that the senator failed to satisfy residency requirement for her position.
