PAGASA: Twin typhoons seen outside PAR
MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) is monitoring two tropical storms outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR).
According to a report, a typhoon with international name "Goni" is expected to enter PAR by Tuesday and will be locally named "Ineng."
It packs maximum sustained winds of 130 kilometers per hour (kph) and gusts of up to 160 kph. It is likely to move west northwest at 20 kph.
The weather bureau said that Goni has a slim chance to become a super typhoon. It will take the same track as Hanna and is not expected to make landfall in any part of the country.
However, it is expected to enhance the southwest monsoon or "habagat" which will bring rains over parts of Visayas and southern Luzon on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, PAGASA said that the other typhoon with international name "Atsani" has a slim chance to enter the country but will be locally named "Jenny" once it enters PAR.
Atsani was last located 4,055 kilometers east of southern Luzon. The weather bureau said it is continuously monitoring it.
