Sandiganbayan grants Arroyo request to visit ailing brother

MANILA, Philippines - The Sandiganbayan on Monday allowed former President and Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo to visit her brother who is confined at the hospital.

Arroyo was allowed to visit her brother Arturo dela Rosa Macapagal at Makati Medical Center from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, according to a report from radio dzMM.

The elder Macapagal is suffering from stage four prostate cancer.

The Sandiganbayan clarified that government funds will not be used for the former president's visit to her brother.

Arroyo is currently under hospital arrest at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center for plunder charges in connection to the alleged misuse of the funds of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office during her term as president.
