Binay camp: No politics behind SAF 44 mural

MANILA, Philippines - The camp of Vice President Jejomar Binay on Sunday assured that there is no politics behind the mural of the fallen Special Action Force (SAF) commandos, which currently hangs in his office at the Coconut Palace.

The vice president used the SAF 44 mural as a backdrop during his "True State of the Nation Address" last week.

"Sa araw-araw naman kasi hindi bababa sa 100 ang nagpupunta sa Coconut Palace for  a tour or courtesy call or visit to the vice president kaya maraming nakakakita," Binay's spokesperson Joey Salgado said in an interview with ABS-CBN News.

Erehwon, a group of artists from Quezon City, created the 26-foot-long mural as a tribute for the fallen SAF 44 who were killed during an encounter against Moro rebels in Mamasapano, Maguindanao last January 25.

Binay decided to hang the said mural in his office after finding out that it was going to be transferred from the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) to the Erehwon Center for the Arts in Quezon City.

According to Erehwon, they are intending to return it to the PNPA once it has its own museum.

On the other hand, Binay plans to return the mural to the PNPA once he is the country's president.
