MAGUINDANAO, Philippines - Bandits shot Tuesday night with shoulder-fire 40 MM explosive projectiles a small building of the Department of Social Welfare and Development in Salibo town in southwest of Maguindanao.

Captain Jo-Ann Petinglay, spokesperson of the Army’s 6th Infantry Division, said the explosives which members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) fired from a distance landed in the surroundings of the building, located in Barangay Pagatin in Salibo.

Three members of the 2nd Mechanized Battalion guarding the DSWD building were slightly wounded in the attack.

Local folks said the explosives were launched from east of the building by BIFF bandits belonging to a group led by Commander Baungos, a henchman of the group’s founder, Imam Ameril Ombra Kato.

The wounded soldiers were immediately evacuated to a nearby Army dispensary for medication.
