'Chedeng' to make landfall over Isabela, Aurora

MANILA, Philippines - Typhoon "Maysak" (international name) may make landfall over Isabela-Aurora area over the weekend.

The typhoon will be called "Chedeng" once it enters the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Wednesday night or Thursday morning.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) noted that the typhoon may weaken before it makes landfall.

The typhoon was last located 1,280 kilometers east of Guiuan, Eastern Samar with maximum sinds of 215 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 250 kph.

"This typhoon is still too far to affect any part of the country. It is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility between tonight until tomorrow morning and will be named “Chedeng," PAGASA said in an update.

According to PAGASA, the country will experience the typhoon's effects by weekend.

The weather bureau may raise storm signals in eastern sections of Southern Luzon and parts of Eastern Visayas by Thursday.
