MANILA, Philippines — In observance of Lent, there will be no selling of lotto tickets and no lotto draws from Maundy Thursday to Easter Sunday, the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) announced Tuesday.

PCSO acting chairman and general manager Jose Ferdinand Rojas II said the selling of lotto tickets and lotto draws will resume on April 6.

"We thank all Lotto players for your trust and confidence in the PCSO games, and we count on your continued support of our efforts to raise funds for charity," Rojas said in a statement.

On Monday, a 29-year old tricycle driver who was left by his wife two years ago for financial reasons, claimed his P59.2 million mega lotto pot.

Rojas said the lone winner placed the winning combination of 02-03-14-22-29-30 in the March 20 Mega Lotto 6/45 draw with a P20 bet.

The winner guessed the winning combination from the birthdates of his two children and their ages, he said.

The tricycle driver has been placing lotto bets for the past year only.

The new millionaire said he intends to buy a house and lot, a car and send his children back to school.
