Philippines, Germany hold talks in addressing climate change
MANILA, Philippines (Xinhua) - The Philippines and Germany conducted today a round table discussion to further strengthen their partnership in dealing with the impacts of climate change, a senior government official said.
Secretary Lucille Sering, Climate Change Commission vice chairperson, said Norbert Goriben, head of the International Climate Finance of German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Natural Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety (BMUB) had arrived in the country for a four-day visit here and to attend the discussion.
She said the Philippines and Germany have been working together on projects dealing with climate change adaptation and mitigation with support from the International Climate Change Initiative of BMUB.
The projects are designed to build resilience of local communities, attain sustainable development, increase awareness, skills and capacity development for climate protection and adaptation, enhance employment opportunities and investments in renewable energies, she said.
