Typhoon 'Chedeng' to enter PAR during Holy Week
MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) is monitoring a typhoon with international name "Maysik" that might enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Wednesday or Thursday.
The typhoon, spotted 2,810 kilometers east of Mindanao as of 10 a.m. on Sunday packs maximum sustained winds of 130 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of 160 kph.
It is forecasted to move west at 20 kph. The typhoon will be named "Chedeng" once it enters PAR.
"Kung sakali po, 'di siya magbago ng direksyon, maaari pong itong eastern ng Luzon muna 'yung maaari niyang maapektuhan, ito po yung Bicol region, Aurora, Quezon, and then Cagayan Valley," PAGASA forecaster Samuel Duran said i an interview with radio dzMM.
Fair weather is expected in most parts of the country for the next two to three days before the typhoon enters PAR.
According to a report, northern Luzon may experience isolated rains on Sunday while the rest of the country, including Metro Manila, will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.
