Chinese artworks featured in Makati exhibit
MANILA, Philippines - President Aquino’s special envoy to China brought works of Chinese artists and calligraphers from Shandong, China for a three-day exhibit at the Yuchengco Museum in RCBC Plaza in Makati last Wednesday.
Carlos Chan, chairman emeritus of Liwayway Marketing Corp., maker of Oishi snack food products, organized the exhibit called “Cultural China – Artworks of 8 famous Chinese calligraphers and painters from Shandong, China.”
The Shandong Overseas Calligraphy and Painting Institute helped Chan mount the exhibit that features about a hundred artworks.
Chan said culture “is the bridge linking the hearts of the people, leading to enhanced mutual understanding and deepening friendship and cooperation.”
Nature is the prevalent theme in most of the art pieces.
A Filipino chieftain, Sulu Sultan Paduka Batara, was buried in Dezhou City in Shandong when he died during a friendly expedition in 1417.
The tomb of the Filipino sultan is a protected historical and cultural site as declared by China’s State Council.
