MANILA, Philippines - Sen. Juan Ponce Enrile prefers to be detained rather than be held under house arrest, his son Jack Enrile said on Thursday.
In an interview with ABS-CBN News Channel, the younger Enrile said that his father wants go back to his detention cell at the Philippine National Police Custodial Center inside Camp Crame, after being discharged from the hospital.
The senator was rushed to the Makati Medical Center last week due to pneumonia. According to his son, he may be discharged in a week.

"I think Dr. Zamora said that his infection has been reduced to about 50 percent of what it originally was and it looks like he could be discharged within a week's time," the younger Enrile said.
The younger Enrile added that his father is not open to being placed under house arrest. The senator wants to go back in detention and face the charges before him.
"He wants there to be no doubt of his innocence and he wants the Filipino public to doubt the strength of this case," Jack said, adding that his father wants to clear his name.
A few senators earlier urged the Aquino administration to allow house arrest for Enrile.
Enrile was charged with plunder along with Sen. Jinggoy Estrada and Sen. Bong Revilla for their alleged misuse of the Priority Development Assistance Fund.
