PNP execs relieved over Bong's trip to JPE birthday bash

Dennis Carcamo - The Philippine Star
MANILA, Philippines - Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas on Thursday announced that some officials of the Philippine National Police (PNP) Custodial Center have been relieved for some lapses and for allowing detained Sen. Ramon "Bong" Revilla Jr. to attend the 91st birthday celebration of Sen. Juan Ponce Enrile last February 14.

Roxas said that the investigation indicated that officials of the Headquarters Support Service (HSS), headed by Chief Superintendent Alberto Supapo, violated regulations of the Custodial Center.

"Nakita sa pag -iimbestiga na may mga hindi pagsunod sa patakaran ng PNP. Pina-relieve ang mga kinaukulan at mga responsable sa mga lapses," Roxas said.

Aside from administrative charges, Supapo and other HSS officials will also be slapped with criminal raps, Roxas added.

He said that Supapo will be replaced by Police Senior Superintendent Elmer Beltejar to act as HSS officer in charge.

Roxas said that even the chief of the emergency unit of the PNP General Hospital, Dr. Raymond Santos, denied having seen or treated Revilla who was supposed to have been complaining of chest pains and migraine.

"Nandito po sya sa emergency room at hindi nya nakita yung sinasabing detained na may karamdaman na pumunta raw sa emergency room...Dalawang beses na nangyari ito. Nakita sa pahayagan. Sen. Bong Revilla na letratuhan...the same thing happened with Sen. Jinggoy Estrada. Same month. Sakit ng ulo, pupunta daw ng ER pero hindi pumunta sa ER," Roxas said.

The relief of the HSS officials came after the probe by the Directorate for Investigation and Detective Management on a photo which showed Revilla purportedly managed to slip out of the Custodial Center and attended Enrile's birthday bash.
