Malayan Insurance celebrates 85th anniversary

MANILA, Philippines - Malayan Insurance, the country’s No. 1 non-life insurer, is celebrating its founding anniversary this year, marking 85 years of unwavering commitment to its promise of financial protection to its policyholders. Established in 1930, Malayan has come a long way from its humble roots in Binondo to being the frontrunner in the industry. Its invaluable legacy of fulfilling its commitments is deeply rooted in Malayan’s rich history. Despite its closure during World War II, its founder, Enrique Yuchengco, settled claims of pre-war policyholders for their losses during the war ex gratia. This gesture upheld Malayan’s vision to be an insurance company that offers exemplary service and settles just and valid claims.

Since 1970, Malayan Insurance has been the leader in the non-life insurance industry in terms of gross premium written. In 2013, it made another milestone in the industry when it closed the year with a GPW of over P7 billion, making it the first company among about 60 non-life insurers in the country to do so.

Malayan has also been known for its breakthroughs in products and services, pioneering various innovations and offering wide selections of affordable and flexible insurance products.
