MANILA, Philippines - Indonesian President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo is scheduled to arrive in Manila tomorrow and meet with President Aquino at Malacañang on Monday as part of his customary tour of Association of Southeast Asian Nations member-countries.
Widodo will be coming from Malaysia and Brunei Darussalam, according to a Jakarta Post report.
The report said Widodo met with all of the ASEAN leaders during the ASEAN annual summit in Myanmar and the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meeting in Australia, just several weeks after his installment as president late last year.
Indonesian deputy foreign minister AM Fachir was quoted in the report as saying that both Indonesia and the Philippines could exchange experiences in handling issues and concerns of their citizens working overseas.
Based on information gathered at the Palace, Widodo will arrive at Villamor Air Base in Pasay City at 5 p.m. and lead a wreath-laying ceremony in Rizal Park in Manila the next day.
Widodo will then proceed to the Palace for a welcome ceremony and pay courtesy call on Aquino on Monday.
